About Christchurch Llanedeyrn Playgroup

Thank you for enquiring about our Playgroup – we are a pre-school setting similar to a nursery. Facilities include a large hall, two side rooms, kitchen, toilets, church side hall and a paved outdoor play area.

Christchurch Llanedeyrn Playgroup is located in the church hall adjacent to Christchurch on Llanedeyrn Drive, Cardiff.

We are open 9.00am - 12.00pm followed by Lunch Club until 1.00pm Mondays to Fridays during term time.
Ages of children: 2 to 5 years.

We recommend children are toilet trained before commencing Playgroup. We will work with you regarding toilet training.

Our aim at Christchurch is to provide a safe, educational and caring environment that will encompass all the seven areas of learning for the Foundation Phase:

We are registered with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) for 32 children per session and are members of Early Years Wales.

The Playgroup is a registered provider for two separate childcare schemes - the 'Childcare Offer for Wales' and H.M. Government's tax-free 'Childcare Choices' offer. Information and further details for parents are available in this document, Childcare Offers - Information for Parents and/or via this link: https://www.gov.wales/childcare-offer-for-wales-campaign.

Our Playgroup is also a participant in CHaSPS (Cardiff Healthy & Sustainable Pre-School Scheme).

Our staff ratio is 1 adult to 4 children aged under 3 years of age and 1 adult to 8 children for children of 3 years and over. Outings are 1 adult to 2 children.

Our staff are qualified, experienced and have full DBS checks.

We recognise and respond sensitively to a child's religious, racial, cultural and linguistic needs.

Children with special needs are very welcome.

Although English speaking we also incorporate the Welsh language.

We have the Gold Standard Healthy Snack Award.

Policies and Procedures booklet including Equal Opportunities and Special Needs are available to read. These are reviewed annually and Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) informed of any changes made to this document and behaviour policy within 28 days. If a problem is not resolved, contact CIW on 0300 7900 126.

As part of our admissions policy, parents are required to complete a registration form containing child details and to read/sign a contract which includes permission for a qualified first aider in the group to give emergency treatment. All accidents are logged and parents notified.

Fire drills are held half termly at Playgroup. Daily risk assessments are completed. An emergency action plan is available to read.
