When are they?
Our trip to Viney Hill Christian Adventure Centre usually takes place on the first weekend of May.
Our youth club camping trip usually takes place on the outskirts of Cardiff in early June.
We have also run a sleepover at the church and will be looking at other local residential experiences.
Who is it for?
Young people aged 7+ (age-restrictions apply to some activities)
What does it cost?
Cost varies each year, our Activity Weekend away is usually around £125-150 per person which is paid directly to the centre, with Youth Club funding our transport and food costs.
Our Camping trip is usually around £20-25 per person which covers the cost of food, resources and site fees.
Our on-site overnight stays will be kept to as low a cost as possible.
What’s it all about?
In 2014 we took a group of young people from our church and another local church away on a residential weekend. It was so successful we decided to go every year!
Our trip to Viney Hill Christian Adventure Centre is open to children from Youth Club and the church aged 8+ and usually includes activities such as crate stacking, climbing, canoeing, archery, tunnelling and a low-ropes obstacle course. It is a great weekend to face their fears, develop their team building skills and grow in confidence.
We began running youth club camping trips in 2022 with the assistance of some Welsh Water and National Lottery grant funding to purchase equipment. We pitch ourselves a little village at a local campsite and run our own activities and entertainment, some of which is organised such as natural craft activities, soft-archery and laser-tag games, whilst other fun is made by the children playing on swings, kicking a ball and playing rounders. This is a great way to get back to nature and enjoy the outdoors whilst building friendships.
Our sleepover included youth club activities and games as well as the chance to try staying away from home for the first time.
Although only open to children from youth club and the church, there is no specific religious element to any of the trips, they are focussed upon friendship, co-operation and fun. We are looking at opportunities to include a faith-based residential within our programme for those children who are keen to have this opportunity.
Detail about booking onto a trip will be provided to the groups when they are launched.
