During the Coronavirus pandemic, ‘virtual’ worship will be posted on the Christchurch United Church Facebook page. These videos will also be available on the website shortly afterwards. Please click on title above.
The ‘virtual’ worship can be viewed on Facebook or below.
Good morning and welcome to worship. We begin with a grand setting of “God is here! As we his people” which speaks both of the way in which the Christian community should welcome everyone without distinction but also the symbols which are used in worship: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbkNXq71iis
To close, here are two hymns which both speak of God and his hopes for our divided world.
First we have the 1960s hymn “O Lord all the world belongs to you” in which we pray for God to “draw men together” and to see how, in harmony “we can be turning the world upside down”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpAAdIZIxOQ
Our other suggested hymn, although set to a very familiar tune, was only written a couple of years ago. It says, “We seek your kingdom throughout every sphere” and it asks God to “transform, revive and heal society”. We have sung it at Christchurch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxNeSyxF47Q
Thank you for joining us and God bless.
P.S. I fear that the video may be a bit fuzzy! I don’t know why this should be as the original was perfectly clear, High Definition in fact, before I uploaded it! My apologies if this is the case and I’ll try different settings next week.
