Choir & Music Group
Music plays a large part in worship at Christchurch. The Choir exists primarily to lead the singing in church together with the Music Group and various instrumentalists who play in the services.
The Choir prepares the hymns for each week’s services. Sometimes they will sing new hymns to make them familiar to the congregation. The Choir regularly sings new anthems.
The Choir presents various seasonal music, either on its own or with the Music Group.
The Choir has a very wide and varied repertoire, from older classic pieces such as John Stainer’s ‘Crucifixion’, which we presented with other local church choirs, to the more modern music of Roger Jones, William Lloyd-Webber and Christopher Tambling.
The Choir has also enjoyed leading Old Tyme Music Hall and pieces by Gilbert and Sullivan!
